Wolfram Nothaft

Chief Medical Officer, Takeda

Wolfram Nothaft, M.D., is the Chief Medical Officer of Takeda Pharmaceutical and a member of the Global Portfolio Executive Team. He joined Takeda from Shire Pharmaceuticals where he was the Head of Global Clinical Development. Dr. Nothaft has more than 28 years of experience in academia and the pharmaceutical industry. He held global R&D leadership positions of increasing responsibilities in the US and Europe at Abbott, Astellas, Takeda, and Hoechst Marion Roussel covering clinical development, translational medicine, medical affairs, regulatory affairs and project leadership in multiple therapeutic areas. Dr. Nothaft also served as the R&D Site Head for Dyax and SuppreMol during his tenure at Shire. He has overseen the design and conduct of several key global development programs and successful product registrations for a diverse set of indications and treatment modalities. Dr. Nothaft earned his medical degree from Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen in Germany where he also received his clinical training in Internal Medicine and authored his medical thesis in pediatric oncology. Further, he completed a two-year postgraduate training in Pharmaceutical Medicine in the UK.
